Oz Fritz (Tom Waits, Primus, John Hammond) to produce Tumbleman album.
Oz Fritz, who mixed and engineered Tom Waits' Grammy award winning Mule Variations, will be producing the upcoming Tumbleman album. In addition to an active role in Waits' recent projects, Fritz has recorded such acts as Primus, Bill Laswell, Ginger Baker, and John Hammond. Tumbleman singer/guitarist/songwriter Brian Franklin states the band will resume recording in November.
Tumbleman (formerly the Brian Franklin Band) began recording at Elysian Studios in early 2000, and paused through the spring as the band discussed production possibilities with Fritz. Pre-production began in the summer.
"We wanted to break away from the arrangements we've done in the past. Oz has a talent for using unorthodox techniques to generate and capture more emotion."
Recording has already begun and will continue in January at Elysian Studios in Boca Raton. The group plans to do additional recordings and mixing at Prairie Sun Studios in Northern California - the site of the Mule Variations sessions.
