Brian Franklin Band changes name to Tumbleman.

The Brian Franklin Band, cleverly named after the singer/songwriter/guitarist Brian Franklin has decided to change its name to Tumbleman. Tumbleman was chosen after it was discovered that their first three choices, Full Metal Chicken, Screaming Brocolli, and To Live and Shave in LA, were already taken.

"We were shocked that these names were taken, but such is life. We decided to go with a name that seemed to fit closer to the themes in the lyrics - people falling out of love, falling out of luck… and generally people struggling to pull themselves up from a difficult place in their lives," stated Franklin.

Franklin also decided that his own name, while more than pleasing to his parents and wife, was not a compelling marketing vehicle.

"We ran some focus groups, took some polls, and determined that it would have been better if I had a cool name, like Arlan, Rene, or Robbie."

The move to Tumbleman also coincides with the unveiling of a new website, www.tumbleman.com, featuring audio samples of new material, merchandise, and news about the band.

Tumbleman is currently recording a new, double album, produced by Oz Fritz, who has recorded and mixed recent albums by Tom Waits, John Hammond, Primus, and others. The album is tentatively scheduled to be completed in mid 2001.
